On January 3, 2008, the Loudoun County Community Action Advisory Board released the report of the October 24, 2007, Poverty Symposium held in Leesburg. The report contains summaries of the speakers' remarks from the morning session and a transcription of the work of the issue groups in the afternoon. One hundred and ten human service professionals, officeholders and citizens attended the daylong symposium. A list of the goals and action steps is included in the report. Two examples of goals set by the groups are: 1) By the year 2020, 100% of Loudoun County residents will have access to adequate healthcare; and 2) to cut poverty in half in Loudoun County by 2017. In November 2008, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution of support for the goal of cutting poverty in half by 2017.
