The Loudoun County Volunteer program provides information, referral, training, and recognition of volunteer activities in Loudoun County. The Volunteer Services program helps solve community problems through volunteerism, the Leadership Loudoun program, agency consulting and training, and a school/community partnership.

The winners of the 2009 Outstanding Volunteer Awards have been announced!
Special Programs
Volunteer Loudoun Offers a Volunteer Management Training Series. Please check back in the fall of 2009 for registration information.
Course 1: Understanding Volunteering – volunteer trends in the U.S.; characteristics of effective volunteer programs; and volunteer motivation models.
Course 2: Planning Your Volunteer Program – conducting basic needs assessments; creating volunteer position descriptions; and developing a purpose statement, policies and budget.
Course 3: Recruiting & Placing Volunteers – developing volunteer recruitment strategies and messages; accessing underutilized volunteers; and interviewing volunteers for optimal placement.
Course 4: Orienting & Training Volunteers – identifying training needs; building a training session; and effective training delivery.
Course 5: Supervising Volunteers – defining and communicating expectations; supervising and recognizing people with different motivations; and developing a recognition plan.
Course 6: Evaluating Your Volunteer Program – deciding what to evaluate; assessing volunteer satisfaction, management and outcomes; and using evaluation information.
Outstanding Volunteer Awards
This annual program honors organizations and residents of Loudoun County who donate time and service to their community. We invite you to nominate outstanding individuals who volunteer for your organization and/or who are residents of Loudoun County who have provided distinguished community service during the last year. This is your opportunity to show appreciation to someone deserving of public recognition. Information about the recipients of the 2009 awards is online:

Retired and Senior Volunteer Program
Through the Area Agency on Aging, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, one of the largest volunteer efforts in the nation, provides an opportunity for individuals ages 55 and older to utilize their skills, life experience and fulfill the desire to participate in their community. A wide range of volunteer opportunities are available to seniors with varying levels of skills and interests.
RSVP volunteers work at sites throughout Loudoun County including, Senior Centers, healthcare facilities, museums, parks and nature preserves as well as with service programs such as Home-Delivered Meals, the Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP), and helping low-income residents prepare their tax returns.
