CARE: Companion Animal Resource Effort
C.A.R.E is dedicated to providing pet owners in need with financial assistance, goods, and services to enhance the quality of life for their companion animals while keeping pets in loving, caring homes.
C.A.R.E. was created to provide assistance to citizens of Loudoun County who are elderly, seriously ill, injured, or in a situation where they cannot afford to care for their pet.
The goal of C.A.R.E. is to assist individuals in keeping and caring for their beloved companion animals. |

These programs are available to residents of Loudoun County. Documentation of financial need is required for some programs.
C.A.R.E. programs include:

S.N.A.P. (Spay Neuter Assistance Program) provides financial aid for spay/neuter surgery to individuals who would otherwise be unable to afford to have their pets altered. Applicants must show proof of financial need.

Medical Assistance gives financial assistance to individuals whose pets are in need of medical care. Applicants must show proof of financial need.

Habitat for Pets provides free dog houses and other necessities to improve the ways pets are housed. Applicants must demonstrate a need for assistance based on current pet housing.

Animeals provides donated pet food to Loudoun County residents in need. Applicants must show proof of financial need.

In Home Pet Care provides temporary assistance for people who are in a situation (illness, injury, etc.) where they can not care for their pet. Includes help with meals, dog walking, litter box cleaning, etc. Applicants must show need for temporary help.

Applications can be obtained from the Loudoun County Animal Shelter, or are available online here.
