Family Services Board
General Purpose
The Family Services Board (formerly Social Services Board) is a policy board that receives its authority from the Code of Virginia. The Family Services Board is charged with responsibility for the social welfare of all county residents and to provide, through departmental programs, the fostering of financial independence of local residents in need.
Membership
Members are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Membership was increased to eleven voting members on September 21, 2004.

Terms
Staggered terms up to four years. Members can serve no more than two consecutive full terms.

Virginia Code Section 63-1-38 through 63.1-58.
Meetings
Meetings are held every 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Shenandoah Office Building, Shenandoah Square, 102 Heritage Way, N. E., Leesburg, in the Lansdowne Room on the 2nd floor. Locations may vary. Any change of location will be noted on the county calendar.
