General Purpose

The Community Services Board (CSB) acts as the agent of Loudoun County in the establishment and operation of community mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse programs as provided for in Chapter 10 of Title 37.1 of the Code of Virginia.
The CSB, established in 1973, oversees the programs and services of the Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse & Developmental Services (MH/SA/DS), sets departmental policy and procedures, and determines priorities as mandated by the state of Virginia. |

Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles
The Community Services Board, with the help of consumers, families and other stakeholders, has developed a statement of "Vision, Mission and Guiding Principles" that are a framework for the work of the CSB and the Department of MH/SA/DS. The statement is online:
Members
The Community Services Board has 18 members who are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The CSB is currently seeking people who would be interested in serving as members. More information is online, including an application form as well as a description of the roles and responsibilities of CSB members.

Meetings
The Community Services Board meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Aspen Room, 906 Trailview Boulevard, Leesburg. The public is welcome to attend and is invited to express concerns or comments at the beginning of each meeting. CSB meetings are posted on the Loudoun County Government Master Calendar.
