| The Division of Environmental Health works to protect the public from environmentally transmitted diseases through a wide range of regulatory and educational services. The division is divided into two major sections: Rural Environmental Health and Urban Environmental Health. On this webpage, you'll find descriptions of both with links to more information, including forms, plan review packets, and applications as well as what to do if you have an emergency after regular business hours. Rural Environmental Health The Rural Division’s role is to manage those environmental health programs associated with sewage disposal and potable water protection in order to prevent disease transmission or adverse environmental impact. Information on biosolids can be found on the Environmental Engineering and Policy Development page. Urban Environmental Health The Urban section’s role within the Health Department is to manage those environmental health issues associated with areas of increased population density, such as vector control, communicable disease surveillance, food protection, recreational safety and nuisance problems.
