A "vector" refers to an organism, such as a tick or a mosquito, that carries disease-causing microorganisms from one host to another. Infections transferred by vectors are referred to as vector borne diseases and include Lyme Disease and West Nile virus. Vector control refers to the process of eradicating or controlling the disease-carrying insects.
