Loudoun County-Operated ParksClaude Moore ParkRules and Regulations
| Claude Moore Park is open from 7:00 a.m. until Dusk every day. The closing time is posted at the entrance gates. The Visitor Center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Claude Moore Park contains a blend of natural habitats, historic areas, passive and active recreation, and educational opportunities. Please follow the rules and regulations and have a safe and enjoyable visit, while allowing others to do the same. -
The speed limit is 10 miles per hour. Please park in designated parking areas only. Private and commercial vehicles are not permitted in the historic area. -
Alcoholic Beverages are prohibited. -
Pets are welcome in the Park. They must be kept on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your pet. Pets are not permitted in the ponds. Pets are not permitted on guided programs because they can be distracting to hike leaders and participants. -
Claude Moore Park is a trash free park. Please place all trash in the dumpster located across the parking lot from the Visitor Center. -
Bicycles are permitted on the paved roads within the park. Bicycles, motorbikes and ATV's are not permitted on park hiking trails or grassy areas. -
Fishing is permitted in the open areas of our two largest ponds. Fishing is not permitted from the dams. Creel limits are posted. An adult must supervise children 12 and younger. Anyone 16 and older must hold a valid Virginia Fishing License. Wading is not permitted. -
Natural Resources are protected. Do not disturb animal or plant life in any way. Collecting of any kind is prohibited (including plants, leaves, wildflowers, nuts, berries, insects, rocks, artifacts, etc.) Please leave feathers and bones where you find them. They have a story to tell others when left in their natural setting. -
Do not feed any wildlife. Geese and ducks should eat only their natural food found in and around the pond. "People food" makes them weak and unhealthy and more susceptible to diseases. Handouts from people cause the wildfowl to become very aggressive. They may loose their natural fear of humans and become easy victims of vandals or hunters (geese and ducks fly to many different ponds – some where hunting is legal). -
It is illegal to release any animals into the park. -
Historic Resources are protected. Metal detectors are not permitted. Collection of artifacts is prohibited. Do not damage, deface, or remove any structures, furnishings, or exhibits. -
For your safety and the protection of the resources, please stay on established trails. Poison ivy is well-established and yellow jackets nest in the ground in off-trail areas. Ticks are common in natural areas. Check yourself after any outdoor activity. -
Charcoal grills are available in most park picnic areas. Please do not bring charcoal grills into the park. -
