Supervisor Scott K. York
Scott K. York was elected as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in November 1999 after serving one term on the Board as the Sterling District Representative. He was re-elected in 2003 and 2007. As Chairman, he was instrumental in the passage of the county's revised Comprehensive Plan and Remapping/Zoning Ordinance amendments implementing "Smart Growth" in Loudoun County.
He serves on the Board of Supervisors' Finance, Government Services & Operations Committee and the Transportation & Land Use Committee. He also represents the Board of Supervisors on the Loudoun County Economic Development Commission (EDC), Loudoun County Transportation Safety Committee and the Community Action Agency Advisory Board.
Chairman York serves and has served in a variety of regional leadership positions. He is vice chairman of the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA), and also represents Loudoun County on the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, the Northern Virginia Manpower Consortium Workforce Investment Board, the Route 28 Transportation Improvement District Commission, and the Development Policy Committee, Air Quality Committee, and Chesapeake Bay and Water Resources Policy Committee of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG).
Chairman York also has served as Chairman of the Virginia High-Growth Coalition, which he founded, and currently serves on the executive committee. He has also been Treasurer of the Northern Virginia Planning District Commission and Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee of the NVTA, and Chair of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission. He currently serves on the Executive Committee for the VA Association of Counties (VACO).
Chairman York served on the Loudoun County Planning Commission from 1992 through 1995. On past Boards he has served as Land Use Committee Chairman and also Economic Development Committee Chairman.
He and his wife JoAnn have four children – Joshua, Elizabeth, Justin, and Laura. They live in Sterling. |
