These local officers are elected by the people along with state and federal representatives. The Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue administers individual and business property taxes, business licenses, and a tax relief program and provides state income tax filing assistance. The office also serves as a DMV Select Agent, providing Virginia residents with vehicle registration and license plate services. Loudoun's real property is valued by a separate agency, the Office of the County Assessor. The Assessor, an appointee of the Board of Supervisors, is responsible for this agency and reports to the County Administrator.
