The Loudoun County Energy Efficiency & Conservation Program provides leadership, guidance, education and technical expertise to reduce energy consumption, improve energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and facilitate energy conservation in county facilities and in the community.

Goals of the Energy Program
Loudoun County is involved in a wide range of efforts to reduce the county government's energy consumption, improve energy efficiency, and raise awareness about energy conservation.  Efforts include: 

• Saving the county money by analyzing utility rate schedules and riders, identifying billing anomalies and discrepancies,  promoting employee energy conservation measures, evaluating utility infrastructure proposals for new County facilities, and negotiating utility rates as a member of the Virginia Energy Purchasing Governmental Association;

• Becoming an Energy Star Partner through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency   and Department of Energy program;
• Providing leadership in creating and maintaining a culture in the organization in which being energy efficient is a regular business practice;
• Providing technical support to the Loudoun County Sustainable Energy Advisory Task Force;
• Participating in regional efforts with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, and others; and
• Administering the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant projects which include outreach to businesses through the Green Business Challenge, outreach to residents through the Green Home Program, integrated energy management plans, construction projects utilizing energy retrofits, solar panels, and electric vehicle charging stations, and server virtualization.
