Foreclosure Assistance
The Loudoun County Department of Family Services has staff available with certified training in Loss Mitigation Counseling for those people in the community who are in foreclosure or in jeopardy of foreclosure.

What To Do
  • The first thing to do if you are in danger of foreclosure is to call the loss mitigation department at your mortgage company. They may be able to help you with loan modification of a repayment and a forbearance plan.
  • For people who are not yet behind in their payments, but think they may be in trouble in the future, a call to a foreclosure hotline at 1-888-995-HOPE may be the best option.
  • If neither of these options is helpful, call the Community Support Unit at the Department of Family Services at 703-777-0353 for counseling or for other assistance.

Foreclosure Rescue Scams
If you or someone you know has been contacted by a "rescuer" or has been a victim, contact a Housing & Urban Development-approved Housing Counseling Agency, the Consumer Protection Section of the Virginia Office of the Attorney General , or local law enforcement - the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office or the appropriate Town police department.

Housing Opportunities Made Equal (HOME), serving the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Legal Aid at 1-888-LEGL-AID (1-888-534-5243) may also be of assistance.
