Loudoun Water Board Passes Resolution Outlining Long-Term Solutions for Raspberry Falls
The Loudoun Water Board of Directors passed a resolution November 10, 2011, outlining long-term solutions for Raspberry Falls. The resolution states that Loudoun Water will proceed with the installation of membrane filtration for Raspberry Falls water supply wells and will not proceed with further development of the pipeline extension unless:
- Loudoun County amends its General Plan to authorize a pipeline extension and approves a commission permit; and
- The Town of Leesburg approves an agreement to accept ownership and operation of the Raspberry Falls Community Water System.

Residents of the Raspberry Falls area of Loudoun County have expressed concerns about the quality of water provided to them by a community well system managed by Loudoun Water. In June 2011, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported that after a review of monitoring data from the Raspberry Falls community system, the EPA found that the treated drinking water meets all applicable Safe Drinking Water Act standards. The EPA planned to continue to monitor the progress of the treatment options being developed by Loudoun Water. The EPA also decided not to proceed with a prevously planned dye trace study.
