Supervisor Kenneth D. Reid
Kenneth D. Reid was elected to represent the Leesburg District on the Board of Supervisors in November 2011. He serves on the Joint Board of Supervisors - School Board Committee, having served as Chairman of the Committee in 2012. He also is a member of the Finance, Government Services and Operations Committee. He represents Loudoun on the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments' Region Forward Coalition, the Northern Virginia Manpower Consortium Workforce Investment Board and the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission. He also serves on the Loudoun County Annexation Area Development Policy Committee.
He was twice elected to the Leesburg Town Council in 2006 and 2010 and served until Dec. 31, 2011. While on the Town Council, Reid was the town’s liaison to the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, Dulles Area Transportation Association (DATA), Virginia Municipal League Transportation Policy Committee, and also served as the Council’s liaison to the Town’s Board of Architectural Review, Economic Development Commission, Tree Commission and Standing Residential Traffic Committee.
Prior to his election to the Leesburg Council in 2006, Reid served on the Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission and Loudoun County Transportation Safety Commission.
A longtime civic activist in the transportation field in the Greater Washington Region, Reid has organized citizen-action groups to support the completion of Battlefield Parkway, the paving of Sycolin Road to Ashburn, the promotion of bus rapid transit and express toll lanes in the Dulles Corridor.
Reid holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Rutgers and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.
By profession, Reid is editor, publisher and owner of Washington Information Source Co., which publishes regulatory compliance newsletters and distributes books and research CDs and DVDs to the life sciences industries. He is the husband of Dr. Lynn Reid, Ph.D., who is director of the Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging. They have resided in Tavistock Farms in Leesburg since 2002 with their twins, James and Lara. The Reid family volunteers at the Interfaith Relief Food Pantry in Leesburg. Reid attends CHABAD synagogue in Herndon.
