Volunteer Opportunities with the Loudoun Workforce Resource Center
About the Loudoun Workforce Resource Center (WRC) and Our Volunteers
The mission of the WRC is to connect job seekers and employers to achieve their employment goals. We do this by providing quality workforce services to businesses and to individuals who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change.  Services are provided to all customers at no cost. And, there are no residency requirements to utilize the Center. The WRC is a certified SkillSource Affiliate and part of the workforce development system of the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board. The Center also is part of the Loudoun County Department of Family Services, Career Support Services Unit.

Time Commitment and Schedule
Some volunteer positions require a standard, recurring schedule while others may operate on a more flexible, or as needed, basis. Volunteers are generally asked to make a good faith commitment of at least 3 months and to perform 2-4 hours of volunteer service per month. In order to provide excellent customer service, all volunteers are expected to arrive on time when scheduled and give advance notice if they are not able to come in for their volunteer shift.

Volunteer Benefits
As a volunteer with the WRC, you have the opportunity to learn new skills, gain work experience, meet new people and do satisfying work.

Application Process
All prospective volunteers are asked to complete a volunteer application which includes 2 references. Once the application is received, the Training Coordinator will contact the prospective volunteer to ask questions, gather more information and possibly schedule an interview. If selected for the position, an orientation and on-the-job training will be provided by WRC staff. Volunteers are asked to sign a confidentiality agreement and obtain a county volunteer identification badge. The Training Coordinator and other staff also provide ongoing supervision and guidance during the performance of volunteer duties. Volunteers are asked to sign in and out each time they volunteer. A volunteer folder will be maintained at the reception area to record your hours.
