Companion Services Program
Overview
The program is designed to assist adults in maintaining independence or allowing them to remain in their own home by providing in-home services such as the following:
- Bathing
- Companionship
- Dressing
- Eating / feeding
- Light housekeeping
- Meal preparation
- Shopping
- Supervision
- Toileting
Although the program is called “companion services,” it is expected that the aides will be spending a majority of their time involved in a task such as housecleaning or bathing. A few hours may be given toward socialization but it is not the main focus of the program.
The
Department of Family Services contracts the in-home services out to
The Medical Team, a local home health agency. They provide the aides / companions that will assist you. The Companion Program is not a nursing program. If you need nursing care please talk with your doctor.
