The Loudoun County Department of Planning assists the Planning Commission, Historic District Review Committee, and Board of Supervisors with developing policies and plans which guide the development of land and transportation network's impact on environmental, historical, and transportation resources.
The department also reviews applications such as Rezonings, Special Exceptions and Certificates of Appropriateness to determine consistency with county plans and ordinances. Staff works with applicants to seek the best solution that is compatible with policies and plans. The department also prepares planning reports and studies for citizen boards and commissions. Residents may contact the department for information about planned land uses and historic districts near their homes or properties. Planning documents are available for review or purchase at the department's front counter as well as on this website.
