Judgment Order and Abstract of Judgment Recording
- Fee - $10, with exception of exempt entities as provided by the Code of Virginia.
Judgment Order
- A certified copy must state that it is a "judgment" (Virginia Code § 8.01-426) and shall specify full names of the parties and amount of the judgment to be accepted to record.
Abstract of Judgment
- An abstract of judgment (CC-1464) prepared by a Clerk of the Circuit Court must be original and in proper form to be accepted to record.
Foreign Judgment Recording
- Fee: $25
- To docket a foreign judgment (Virginia Code § 8.01-465.1) (out-of-state or Virginia Federal Court), submit the following:
- A certified copy or an abstract of a foreign judgment under a triple seal (exemplification of a judgment)
- Notarized affidavit from the plaintiff or plaintiff's legal representative, stating the last known address of all parties (Virginia Code § 8.01-465.3)
- Payment of $25
Judgment Release Recording
- Free of charge
- Upon satisfaction of a judgment, creditor must file a release of judgment (Virginia Code § 8.01-454).
- Creditor or their legal representative shall draft a satisfaction or complete CC-1463/Authorization for Entry of Satisfaction of Judgment and /or Release of Judgment Lien (PDF).
- Note: Partial release intended to release real estate only or IRS Certificate of Discharge of Property from Federal Tax Lien are recorded as Partial Release in the Deed book; cost-$26.

Additional Information
- Judgments rendered in Loudoun County Circuit Court are automatically docketed in Land Records.
- Clerk of the Circuit Court retains all original judgments, judgment releases, foreign judgments in its custody.
- Clerk of the Circuit Court does not have payoff information; information shall be obtained from the court that rendered the judgment; for Loudoun County Circuit, information can be obtained from Civil Division or Criminal Division.
- Clerk of the Circuit Court does not send information to credit agencies.
