The project will construct a 115,000-square-foot recreation and community center on Broadlands Boulevard, west of the intersection with Claiborne Parkway.
The two-story facility will feature a 50-meter competition pool, leisure pool, spa, full-size gymnasium, soft sensory play room, multipurpose room with a catering and teaching kitchen, classrooms, offices and meeting spaces. The second floor will include fitness areas, running track, spectator seating for the competition pool and viewing area for the leisure pool.
Additional features include a multi-use trail around the property, a large courtyard with seating, a splash play area and playground equipment.

The facility design is currently 75% complete and was submitted and reviewed by Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS), Department of Information Technology (DIT), Department of General Services (DGS) and Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure (DTCI).
Prequalification for General Contractors is anticipated in the next quarter.
Advertisement for construction will occur following the prequalification process scheduled for fall 2020.
This month, the exterior color scheme and interior finish selections will begin and leisure pool equipment selections will be finalized. Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are being engineered, drawn up and specified.
Construction work is currently estimated to begin by winter 2021.
