Animal Services Facility

Overview

  • This project will construct a new animal services building in Leesburg to serve as the primary location for Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS), replacing the existing building in Waterford.
  • The new animal services facility will be 21,450 square feet and will have kennels, indoor and outdoor spaces, a veterinary clinic, a multi-purpose room, and a split lobby for adoptions and surrenders.
  • The new facility will become the first public animal shelter in the United States to meet 100% of the animal shelter guidelines established by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
  • The project is estimated for completion in the summer of 2020.

Current Status: January 2020

  • Dustin Construction, Loudoun County’s contractor for the project, has completed the majority of the foundation work and the geothermal well.
  • Crews are currently installing non-structural concrete masonry unit blocks to create walls and are erecting structural steel.
  • The site grade, slab work and underslab mechanical, electrical and plumbing, are scheduled to be completed within the next month.
