This project will construct a new animal services building in Leesburg to serve as the primary location for Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS), replacing the existing building in Waterford.
The new animal services facility will be 21,450 square feet and will have kennels, indoor and outdoor spaces, a veterinary clinic, a multi-purpose room, and a split lobby for adoptions and surrenders.
The new facility will become the first public animal shelter in the United States to meet 100% of the animal shelter guidelines established by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
The project is estimated for completion in winter 2021.
Current Status: October 2020
The parking lot asphalt and the outdoor barn have been completed.
Crews are finishing the remaining site work, including mechanical and plumbing, installing exterior fencing, and applying concrete polish flooring.
Work to install architectural finishes will be ongoing until the end of the project.
