Animal Services Facility

Overview

  • This project will construct a new animal services building in Leesburg to serve as the primary location for Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS), replacing the existing building in Waterford. 
  • The new animal services facility will be 21,450 square feet and will have kennels, indoor and outdoor spaces, a veterinary clinic, a multi-purpose room, and a split lobby for adoptions and surrenders.
  • The new facility will become the first public animal shelter in the United States to meet 100% of the animal shelter guidelines established by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians.
  • The project is estimated for completion in winter 2021.

Current Status: October 2020

  • The parking lot asphalt and the outdoor barn have been completed.
  • Crews are finishing the remaining site work, including mechanical and plumbing, installing exterior fencing, and applying concrete polish flooring.
  • Work to install architectural finishes will be ongoing until the end of the project.
