This project provides funding to design and construct a new 22,000 square foot replacement station for the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies at the corner of East Holly Avenue and Commerce Street in Sterling.
The new station will replace the current 8,772-square-foot building on this site dating from 1970, and provide more storage and parking. The one-acre property will also expand by a third of an acre.
Features of the facility will include a reception area, meeting and training rooms, bunk rooms, a kitchen, an exercise room, offices, apparatus bays, and storage space for equipment and gear.
Funding for this project uses general obligation bonds and cash proffers.
