Sterling Park Safety Center

Overview

  • This project provides funding to design and construct a new 22,000 square foot replacement station for the Sterling Volunteer Fire and Rescue Companies at the corner of East Holly Avenue and Commerce Street in Sterling.
  • The new station will replace the current 8,772-square-foot building on this site dating from 1970, and provide more storage and parking. The one-acre property will also expand by a third of an acre.
  • Features of the facility will include a reception area, meeting and training rooms, bunk rooms, a kitchen, an exercise room, offices, apparatus bays, and storage space for equipment and gear.
  • Funding for this project uses general obligation bonds and cash proffers.
  • Construction is currently estimated for completion in fall 2022, weather permitting.

Current Status: May 2022

  • Work to install metal stud framing on the third floor is complete and crews have begun installing the roof, and exterior finishes, such as brick and siding. Preparation for pouring concrete slab for the Apparatus Bay is also underway.
  • For the next several weeks, crews will continue roof and exterior finish installation, pour the concrete slab for the Apparatus Bay, and continue ongoing work to rough-in utilities.
  • Construction is currently estimated for completion in fall 2022, weather permitting.
