Online Services and Tools
The Clerk of the Circuit Court offers several online tools and applications that empower our attorney customers to conduct business with the Clerk’s Office remotely and electronically.
Civil Filing Fee Calculator
Provided by the Virginia Supreme Court the Civil Filing Fee Calculator calculates the filing fees of your pleadings & filings.
E-Filing Civil Court Cases
The Clerk’s Office uses an E-Filing system implemented by the Office of the Executive Secretary of the Virginia Supreme Court. The Virginia Judiciary E-Filing System (VJEFS) is designed for members in good standing with the Virginia State Bar Association. VJEFS allows attorneys to electronically submit initial pleadings and all subsequent pleadings if the civil case is initiated electronically. Participants in the E-Filing system can electronically file cases in Loudoun County Circuit Court as well as any other participating circuit courts in Virginia. Attorneys who are registered to E-File in civil cases can submit and track electronically filed pleadings and receive alerts on the status of the electronically transmitted pleadings and other notifications. Filing fees can be calculated and service of process can be requested using the E-Filing portal when a case is initiated electronically. Virginia Judiciary E-Filing System (VJEFS) has more information on participating circuit courts, the registration process, and instructions on how to use this efficient online service. If you’re ready to register your firm, simply fill out a Registration Application (PDF) and submit it electronically.
Remote Access to Circuit Court Case Records
The Loudoun Officer of the Court Remote Access (LOCRA) is a subscription service that permits attorneys in good standing with the Virginia State Bar Association to access court records and information remotely. The Code of Virginia sets forth limitations that restrict access to attorneys and certain government agencies. LOCRA allows subscribers to view, print and save images of pleadings, orders, and other case records remotely. Visit our LOCRA page for more information related to the subscription process, fees, and the information available.
Circuit Courtroom Technology
Each courtroom in the circuit court is equipped with a 50-inch television with both VGA and HDMI inputs. The Circuit Court Technology Request form can be used to reserve the use of a document camera in the courtroom or to schedule a test date at least five days prior to your hearing. Test dates will be arranged on dates and times that do not conflict with busy hearing dates, trial dates, and other judicial schedules.
For information regarding any courtroom technologies in the General District Court or the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, you will need to contact the respective clerk’s office for these courts.
Wireless & Electronic Evidence Presentation
Circuit Courtrooms 2A, 2B, 2C, and 2D all have wireless and electronic evidence presentation capability, referred to as “ClickShare” devices. ClickShare offers easy, wireless evidence presentation from your laptop using a USB dongle. To take advantage of this courtroom technology tool, you must install the ClickShare App on your laptop prior to your court date. Attorneys who have not used this technology tool in the courtroom previously can schedule a test date prior to a court hearing to ensure proper and effective use of this helpful tool using the Circuit Court Technology Request form.
Audio-Visual Equipment & Testing
The Circuit Court has a single Document Camera available to attorneys on a first-come, first-served basis. The Document Camera allows the presentation of physical copies of documents electronically. Attorneys who wish to reserve the Document Camera should complete a Circuit Court Technology Request form five (5) days prior to the court date.
Court Audio Recordings & Transcripts
The audio recordings are not the official transcript of the court proceedings. Official court transcripts can be requested from the court reporter.
Information on how to request a copy of these audio recordings, cost, and available formatting options can be found on our Circuit Court Audio Requests page. Please note that a circuit court judge may direct that the proceedings are not to be recorded.
