Crews Prepare to Install Steel and Masonry at Sterling Community Center

In July, crews working on the Sterling Community Center renovation completed the installation of the geothermal system, reinforcement of the foundation of the existing building and underground utility work. Work on storm lines and water supply lines from Enterprise Street to the building is ongoing. 

Over the next several weeks, crews will begin to erect structural steel posts and masonry block at the gymnasium and rough-in for utilities.

The project, which will add 2,000 square feet to the existing 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas and expanding the teen recreation area.

The Sterling Community Center project is expected to be completed in fall 2021. During the renovation, the center will provide services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.

Renovation and Expansion of the Sterling Community Center Continues

The renovation and expansion of the Sterling Community Center will add 2,000 square feet to the existing 18,700 square-foot facility. Structural demolition is complete with site demolition and the new foundation work beginning. In addition, underground utility work, mechanical, electrical and plumbing ground works and geothermal drilling and installation are underway.

The Sterling Community Center project is expected to be completed in 2022. During the renovation, the center will provide services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.

Loudoun County Breaks Ground on Sterling Community Center Renovation Project

Members of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors joined with other officials, Loudoun County government staff, members of the project team and community members to break ground  for the renovation and expansion of the Sterling Community Center on Saturday, February 8, 2020. The event took place in the center’s existing gymnasium with the groundbreaking ceremony occurring just outside the gymnasium doors.
