Blasting Work for Crosstrail Boulevard Project Begins in August

Blasting to remove rock between the W&OD Trail and the Tuscarora Creek Bridge is scheduled to begin the week of August 10, 2020 and will continue as needed through mid-September. 

The county’s subcontractor plans to blast between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays, as weather and site conditions allow. All work will comply with the blasting permit provided by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal.


Weather permitting, construction is expected to be completed in winter 2023.

Loudoun County Begins Construction of Crosstrail Boulevard Project

Merritt Construction Services, the county's contractor for the Crosstrail Boulevard construction project, is clearing the project area of vegetation and establishing erosion and sediment controls. Work to relocate utilities, including supporting poles for power lines, has begun and will continue for several weeks. 

Weather permitting, construction is expected to be completed in winter 2023.

Crosstrail Boulevard Project Groundbreaking Held on March 12

Members of the Board of Supervisors, Leesburg Town Council and members of the public were on hand for the ceremonial breaking of ground on Thursday, March 12, kicking off the two-and-a-half year construction project. 

The project will construct a new four-lane, divided road segment, extending Crosstrail Boulevard from Kincaid Boulevard to Russell Branch Parkway. When completed, Crosstrail Boulevard will provide a new connection between Sycolin Road near Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park and Route 7. 

Construction is scheduled for completion by fall 2022. The budget for this segment of the Crosstrail Boulevard project is currently $50.2 million.
