Crews Prepare to Install Steel and Masonry at Sterling Community Center

Posted on September 4, 2020 at 2:33 PM by Heidi Kellum

In July, crews working on the Sterling Community Center renovation completed the installation of the geothermal system, reinforcement of the foundation of the existing building and underground utility work. Work on storm lines and water supply lines from Enterprise Street to the building is ongoing.

Over the next several weeks, crews will begin to erect structural steel posts and masonry block at the gymnasium and rough-in for utilities.

The project, which will add 2,000 square feet to the existing 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas and expanding the teen recreation area.

The Sterling Community Center project is expected to be completed in fall 2021. During the renovation, the center will provide services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.
