Construction Continues on the Sterling Community Center Renovation

Posted on December 9, 2020 at 8:53 AM by Heidi Kellum

The construction contractor for the Sterling Community Center Renovation project has completed the foundation and continues site work, including curb and gutter work. The crew is approximately 80% complete with erecting the structural steel posts. The roof decking is installed on the gym area, and the mechanical, electrical and plumbing work has begun inside the facility.

In the next several months, crews will start roofing the area being renovated, set the air handlers on the roof, continue with the interior mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough in, begin framing interior partitions, and install the exterior windows and door systems.

The project, which will add 2,000 square feet to the existing 18,700 square-foot community center facility in Sterling, includes improving the entrances to the center, enlarging the gymnasium, renovating the outdoor pavilion, adding an outdoor amphitheater, creating new patio and lawn areas and expanding the teen recreation area.

The Sterling Community Center project is expected to be completed in fall 2021. During the renovation, the center will provide services at an adjacent county-owned property at 150 Enterprise Street.
