Town of Leesburg to Inspect Water Main Repairs for New Animal Services Facility

Posted on March 17, 2021 at 10:04 AM by Heidi Kellum

Last month, crews completed repairs to the geothermal system and water main for the new Animal Services Facility, which will be inspected by the Town of Leesburg in mid-March. In the next few weeks, work to patch the parking lot asphalt will begin.

The construction contractor is currently working on a punch list in preparation for the County’s Substantial Completion Inspection. Architectural touch up work is ongoing until the end of the project, currently estimated for substantial completion in spring 2021.

This project constructs a new, 21,450-square-foot animal services facility in Leesburg to serve as the primary location for Loudoun County Animal Services (LCAS), replacing the existing 15,000-square-foot facility in Waterford.

The new facility will provide many of the same services as the current animal shelter, including pet adoptions; animal welfare law enforcement; housing of stray, abandoned, or relinquished companion animals; dog license sales; volunteer opportunities; dispatch services; low-cost rabies vaccines, educational programs; and pet retention counseling.
