Loudoun County has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the Fiscal Year 2017 budget, County Administrator Tim Hemstreet announced Tuesday.

The association cites the Board of Supervisors and Loudoun County government staff for a commitment to meeting the “highest principles of governmental budgeting.”  To receive the award, Loudoun County met nationally recognized guidelines designed to measure how well the budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

In addition to the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, a Certificate of Recognition for Budget Presentation has been presented to Department of Management and Budget Director Erin McLellan.

The GFOA is a nonprofit, professional association serving nearly 19,000 people responsible for government finance policy and management throughout North America.

More information about the Loudoun County budget, including the complete FY 2017 budget document and the FY 17 Budget Story, is available at www.loudoun.gov/budget.
