The Loudoun Soil and Water Conservation District, in partnership with the Loudoun County government, is accepting applications for a riparian buffer planting project through Wednesday, March 15, 2017.  Riparian buffers are vegetation zones located along a stream or other water body.

Private residential, industrial, commercial, and homeowner association (HOA) landowners in Loudoun are eligible to apply for funds to plant buffers along perennial (year-round) streams and water bodies.  An effective technique for improving water quality, this program reimburses landowners up to $7,000 per acre for planting materials and labor costs.  The program is designed for non-agricultural land.

Additional information, including a project fact sheet, application form, and plant list, is available on the Loudoun Soil Water and Conservation District website at www.lswcd.org  or by contacting Urban/Ag Conservationist Chris Van Vlack at 571-918-4530, ext. 107 or by email
