Loudoun County residents continue to give the county high marks and express continuing satisfaction with county services according to results of the 2016 Loudoun County Survey of Residents presented to the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

The survey shows residents appreciate the overall quality of life, public safety, value provided for the tax dollar, quality of county services, rural character and proximity to amenities and jobs.  The concerns most frequently expressed by residents relate to growth and development and to traffic.

Among the findings of the survey:
  • 94 percent of those surveyed said overall quality of life in the county is “excellent” or “good.”
  • About 98 percent of respondents said they feel “safe” or “very safe” in their neighborhoods.
  • 77 percent of those surveyed had used the services of the Loudoun County Public Library in the previous two years.
  • About one-third of residents naming growth and development as the county’s biggest problem said they would be willing to pay higher taxes to address it. Almost half of those naming traffic said they would be willing to pay higher taxes to address it.
The 2016 Loudoun County Survey of Residents was conducted by the Center for Survey Research at the University of Virginia. This periodic survey of residents helps Loudoun County glean insight regarding demographic information, residents’ level of satisfaction with county services and obtain residents’ opinions on key county issues, such as growth management, public safety and taxes.
