Loudoun Workforce Resource Center Celebrates Workforce Development Month

The Loudoun Workforce Resource Center celebrates September as Workforce Development Month. Whether you are looking for work, changing careers or would like to brush up on techniques for success at your current job, the Workforce Resource Center has services and resources to fit your employment needs. The center will feature special events and workshops throughout September. The schedule includes:

September 1: Kickoff
As a kickoff, on Friday, September 1, 2017, staff from the Workforce Resource Center will be at two locations to greet the public, answer questions and provide resources.  
  • Loudoun County Government Center lobby, 1 Harrison Street, S.E., Leesburg, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  
  • Sterling Library, 22330 S. Sterling Boulevard, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
September Workshops
A variety of job preparation workshops will be offered at the center throughout the month. All are free and open to the public, however, registration is required at www.loudoun.gov/wrcworkshops.   
  • Orientation to Workforce Resource Center Services: September 6, 10:00 a.m. 
  • Job Seeker Support Group: September 7, 11:00 a.m.
  • Older Workers and Job Search: September 7, 1:00 p.m. 
  • Navigating LinkedIn for New Users: September 13, 9:30 a.m.
  • Controlling My Time: September 19, 10:00 a.m.
  • Your Transferable Skills: September 21, 10:00 a.m. 
  • Job Seeker Support Group: September 21, 11:00 a.m.
September 12 and 26: Help for Veterans
Representatives from the Virginia Employment Commission’s Veteran Employment Services will be at the center September 12 and 26, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to assist veterans with employment-related needs. Appointments can be made by calling 703-813-1300.  

September 19: Small, Women-owned and Minority Businesses
To close out the month, the center will host the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD) at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 19. Staff from the SBSD will conduct a SWaM (Small, Women-owned and Minority) Certification workshop for business owners seeking to participate in Virginia’s specialized procurement and contracting opportunities.  There is no fee for the event.
