Loudoun County, VA- A driver for a ride-hailing service has been arrested for sexually assaulting a passenger in Eastern Loudoun County area last week.
The driver, Kal Y. Habtemariam, 44, of Sterling, was arrested today and charged with aggravated sexual battery and forcible sodomy.
The charges stem from an investigation into an assault on December 27, 2017. The victim, an adult female, reported she was assaulted by the driver of an Uber after she was picked up in Herndon around 1:30 a.m.
The victim reported she was drinking with friends and used the service to get a ride to a residence in the Sterling area. The victim reported as they were traveling in the area of Rutherford Circle, the driver stopped the vehicle and got into the backseat where he assaulted her. The victim reported the incident later that same day.
Habtemariam remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
