MD Man Charged with Soliciting Minor, LCSO
Seeks Possible Additional Victims
Loudoun County- Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Salt Lake City Sherriff’s Office have arrested Derrick La Marr Jones, 35, of Catonsville, Maryland for two counts of illegal use of a communication system to solicit with lascivious intent a minor between the age of 15 and 18.
On March 7, 2017, the LCSO received a report from a concerned family member that a juvenile female from Ashburn, Va. was communicating via social media and engaging in sexual activity with a male that was believed to be an adult. The male was later identified as Derrick La Marr Jones.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Jones had provided transportation for the Ashburn teenager to travel to the Baltimore area to meet him. It is believed that Jones uses social media and has made contact with juvenile females at multi-genre entertainment/comic book conventions. Jones often will use the alias of Kanovski Zan-Lee Vulgen or “Kano” or “Lee” and introduces himself as being in his late teen or early twenties. Since March 2017, Jones has been in the area of Orlando, FL, Albuquerque, NM, Flagstaff and Phoenix, AZ, Los Angeles and Sacramento, CA, and Salt Lake City, UT.
LCSO detectives are seeking information regarding potential victims who may have known, associated with or communicated with Jones.
Anyone with any information regarding this case is asked to call Detective J. Suess of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at 703-777-0475 or you may submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app. The Loudoun Sheriff app is available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
