Third Suspect in Custody in Connection with Ashburn Fatal Stabbing & Assault
Loudoun County, VA- Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office detectives have identified and apprehended a third suspect in connection with the November 4 fatal stabbing and assault in Ashburn, Va.
A 16-year-old from Herndon, Va. was apprehended today and is charged with homicide and aggravated malicious wounding. He is being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.
On November 9, a 17-year-old from Ashburn was apprehended in New York. He is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and was additionally charged on November 21, 2016 with homicide. He is currently being held at the Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center.
On November 10, a 16-year-old from Herndon, Va. was taken into custody in connection with the investigation. He remains held in Fairfax County, Va., on an unrelated charge. Charges in connection with the Loudoun County investigation are pending against him.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed. The names of the teenagers cannot be released due to the fact they are juveniles.
The three suspects were apprehended in connection with the November 4 fatal stabbing of Guillermo Piedra-Espinoza, 22, of no fixed address and the stabbing of a 19-year-old Ashburn male near the Ashburn Meadows apartment complex. Piedra-Espinoza was found deceased in a wooded area. The 19-year-old was taken to local hospital where he was treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. At this time it appears the victims of the assault were targeted.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has worked with the Northern Virginia Gang Task Force and utilized federal and other regional resources to investigate the case.
