Loudoun County, VA – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office graduated three members of the agency’s leadership staff from the 43rd session of the Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS).

2nd Lieutenant Duy Nguyen, a 15-year veteran of the agency, 2nd Lieutenant Josh Lowder, a 12-year-veteran, and 2nd Lieutenant Greg Rogers, a 9-year veteran, graduated Thursday from the intensive three-week leadership education program.

“Participating in the PELS program enables the agency to network with other large law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth and is part of my goal to continue to improve service, efficiency, and professionalism in the agency,” said Loudoun Sheriff Mike Chapman.

2nd Lieutenant Nguyen serves in the Corrections/Court Services Division as a supervisor in the Courts and Civil process Unit, 2nd Lieutenant Rogers serves as a supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Division, and 2nd Lieutenant Lowder serves in the Administrative/Technical Services Division and is the Training and Accreditation supervisor.

The PELS program is conducted in cooperation with the University of Richmond. This program is designed for individuals who currently serve in command/executive level positions within their agencies. The curriculum is liberal-arts/humanities based and focused on the study of leadership at an advanced level. The objective of this program is to acquaint participants with best practices in leadership, challenge them to reflect upon their own leadership competency, and examine ways of achieving both personal and professional growth.

The classes are held on the campus of the University of Richmond, and faculty members from the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, teach the classes. They are drawn from the Robins School of Business, the Management Institute, Jepson School of Leadership Studies, and several other schools within the university.
