Loudoun Homeless Services Center Reopens

Red and green Loudoun County seal on a green background.

After an extensive renovation, which prompted a temporary relocation of services, the Loudoun County Homeless Services Center has reopened and is providing all of its normal services at the facility located at 19520 Meadowview Court in Leesburg.

The $1.3 million renovation included the building wide replacement of the plumbing, heating, ventilation and cooling equipment as well as the system that controls and monitors the building’s mechanical and electrical equipment, the replacement of drywall and flooring and an upgrade of the fire and safety systems.

“I am proud of the way our community came together to help us provide services to those in need during the winter while the renovations were underway, including businesses, faith-based organizations and many other volunteers,” said Loudoun County Department of Family Services Director Glenda Blake. “I am also grateful to Loudoun County government staff members and our nonprofit partners for their flexibility and excellent collaboration during this process.”

The Loudoun Homeless Services Center provides:

  • Emergency shelter services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness;
  • Supportive housing to adults in need; and
  • Drop-in services for adult individuals experiencing homelessness to take care of their basic daily needs, including meals, access to shower and laundry facilities, and other resources.

The Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas operates the center under contract with the county, providing multifaceted programs that prevent, support, and help end homelessness within Loudoun and surrounding counties.

“We provide critical care, support services and hope to thousands of people each year,” said Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas Executive Program Director Beth Driggers. “We serve them with compassion and work collaboratively with many partners to support the needs of our community.”

The center’s services were temporarily relocated to other facilities during the nine-month renovation project. The Department of Family Services oversees the center in partnership with the Loudoun County Continuum of Care, a coalition of public, nonprofit, and faith-based organizations that provide a variety of shelter and support services to persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
