The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month to recognize the talents of people with disabilities and employers that hire them.

The 2019 National Disability Employment Awareness Month theme is “The Right Talent, Right Now,” which emphasizes the essential role that people with disabilities play in the economic success of the United States.

National Disability Employment Awareness Month is observed annually in October and organized by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy. The month celebrates America's workers with disabilities, and highlights the importance of inclusive policies and practices to ensure that all Americans who want to work can work, and have access to services and support to enable them to do so.

The Board of Supervisors’ proclamation, adopted at its October 2, 2019, business meeting, calls on employers in Loudoun to “celebrate the many and varied contributions of people with disabilities and support the value and talent people with disabilities add to our workplaces and communities.”

In Loudoun County, the Disability Services Board (DSB) identifies and advises the Board of Supervisors on issues of importance to people with disabilities, their families and caregivers to help make Loudoun an accessible and inclusive community for all.
