Deadline to Register to Vote in November Election is October 13

Loudoun County election officials remind residents that if they are not registered to vote or need to update their registration, they have until Tuesday, October 13, 2020, to do so in order to vote in the November 3 general election. The voter registration deadlines are:

  • Online Voter Registration: Tuesday, October 13, at 11:59 p.m.  
  • In-Person Voter Registration: Tuesday, October 13, at 5:00 p.m. at the Loudoun County Office of Elections and Voter Registration, 750 Miller Drive, S.E., Suite C in Leesburg. (Note: The office will be closed Monday, October 12, in observance of Columbus Day.)
  • By-Mail Voter Registration: The application must be postmarked no later than October 13, 2020.

Additional Early Voting Sites to Open October 17

Election officials also remind residents that all registered voters are eligible to vote early in person. In addition to the ongoing early voting at the Office of Elections and Voter Registration, additional early voting sites will open Saturday, October 17, 2020:

  • Carver Senior Center, 200 E Willie Palmer Way, Purcellville
  • Dulles South Senior Center, 24950 Riding Center Drive, South Riding
  • Loudoun County Government Offices, 21641 Ridgetop Circle, Sterling

The deadline to vote early in person is Saturday, October 31. More details, including hours of operation and directions, are available at loudoun.gov/voteearly.

Ballot Drop Boxes at Loudoun County Public Library

For the convenience of voters who have requested absentee ballots, supervised ballot drop boxes are now in place inside all Loudoun County Public Library branches with the exception of the Law Library. Completed absentee ballots can be returned through Saturday, October 31, only during the branches’ hours of operation which are: Monday - Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  (Note: The Loudoun County Public Library will be closed Monday, October 12, in observance of Columbus Day.) Completed absentee ballots can also be returned to the Office of Elections and Voter Registration, 751 Miller Drive, Leesburg, through October 31.

  • Texting LCVOTES to 888777 to receive text alerts from the Loudoun County Office of Elections and Voter Registration. 
  • Signing up for the Election Update category in Alert Loudoun, the county’s email and text notification system. 
  • Following the Office of Elections and Voter Registration on Facebook and Twitter. Loudoun County Government also posts general information on Facebook and Twitter.
