Jury Convicts Levyn H. Andrade of Rape

The Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office announced today the conviction of Levyn H. Andrade in the 2020 rape, assault, and abduction of his wife.

After a four-day trial, a Loudoun County jury found Andrade, 39, guilty of rape, abduction, unlawful wounding, and assault and battery from an October 4, 2020, incident.  Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Anna Hammond and Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Shara Krogh presented the case on behalf of the Commonwealth. The jury deliberated for two days before rendering their verdict and sentencing.  The jury recommended a sentence of five years and 12 months and fines of $5,000.

“We hope that the verdict provides the victim and her family with a sense of safety.  We are committed to assisting them however we can in obtaining the services they need to heal,” said Loudoun Commonwealth’s Attorney Buta Biberaj.

During the trial, the Commonwealth introduced expert testimony in the field of forensic nursing and emergency medicine to explain the injuries suffered by the victim.

“It is rewarding to seek and obtain justice for the victim in this case.  It was brave of her to report this sexual assault and to cooperate with the investigation and prosecution, and the Commonwealth is pleased with the verdict in this case.  We thank the jury for their time, dedication, and service to the community.  We also thank Detective Johnson, Detective Wilk and all deputies involved in this matter,” said Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Anna Hammond.

Andrade will continue to be held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.  Formal sentencing by the court will be on September 14, 2021.
