2016 Loudoun County Real Estate Assessments Available Online

Image of Loudoun County Seal

Commissioner of the Revenue, Robert S. Wertz, Jr., announced that Loudoun County real estate assessments for tax year 2016 will be available online at www.loudoun.gov/parceldatabase at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Printed assessment notices will be mailed to property owners later this week. These assessment notices, which are not tax bills, communicate to property owners the value of their real property as of January 1, 2016 and are reflective of real estate market activity that occurred during 2015. The assessed value in conjunction with the tax rate to be set by the Board of Supervisors in April provides the basis for real estate tax bills that will be due on June 5 and December 5. Property owners who believe their assessments are incorrect may file an Application for Review with the Commissioner online at www.loudoun.gov/reaa by March 7, 2016. Thereafter, appeals may be made to the Board of Equalization until June 1.

The county’s total taxable real estate increased to $69.1 billion, up 3.67% overall. An average existing urban single family detached home saw the largest average year-over-year increase in value of 2.26% while condominiums declined 3.02%. These numbers are only averages and property owners may see changes that are more or less than these figures. The total value of commercial property in the county was up 6.4% over 2015.

Property owners may also communicate with their respective appraiser whose name and contact information is listed on the assessment notice, or by calling the Commissioner’s office at 703 777-0260 weekdays during regular business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or by emailing [email protected] The Commissioner of the Revenue’s offices are located at the Loudoun County Government Center, at 1 Harrison Street, S.E. in Leesburg and in the Loudoun Tech Center at 21641 Ridgetop Circle, Suite 100, in Sterling.

Top 4 Messages for Loudoun Residents During the Blizzard

Updated Sunday, January 24, 2016: All Loudoun County facilities are closed on Sunday, January 24, 2016.

Loudoun County officials continue to monitor the evolving weather and road conditions. All Loudoun County facilities are closed on Saturday, January 23, 2016. The National Weather Service reports more than 12 inches snow fell overnight and the blizzard warning remains in effect until 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning, January 24, 2016.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is out in full force. Updated road conditions can be viewed online 511virginia.org

Here the top 4 messages for all of us to know during the blizzard:

1. Stay Off the Roads. State Police and VDOT report that road conditions across Loudoun County are “severe.” Please do not considering driving today for the following reasons:

  • Even 4-wheel drive vehicles and large plow trucks are having trouble getting around—in some cases they’re getting stuck! Don't risk it.
  • VDOT plow drivers can get their job done more easily without vehicles on the roads.
  • Don’t create an unnecessary call to public safety. Many roads are not passable - you will get stuck and need help; Sheriff’s Office and Fire & Rescue personnel are needed for true emergencies. In addition, this weather is likely to delay responses.

2. Be Prepared.

3. Stay Safe.

4. Stay Informed.Get regular updates on the process of the blizzard by watching local news reports or visiting the National Weather Service’s website. Loudoun County will keep you up-to-date along with VDOT and others. We’ve posted links to all the information sources you need at www.loudoun.gov/winterMore...
