If you are filing an initial claim for unemployment insurance benefits, please do so online
with the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC).
In order to avoid attempts by scammers to defraud users, be sure you are using either www.vec.virginia.gov or www.vawc.virginia.gov to apply for unemployment benefits.Apply by Phone

Furloughed and laid off workers may qualify for health insurance through the Virginia Marketplace. To apply, access the online application here
and select Virginia from the drop-down menu.
