What is the purpose of having inspections of alternative (nonconventional) systems?

All alternative on-site sewage disposal systems require maintenance in order to adequately treat and dispose of wastewater. Chapter 1067 of the Codified Ordinances of Loudoun County, adopted on November 3, 2008 and revised on April 3, 2013, requires inspections of these systems to ensure they are operating as designed.
