If my vehicle has been subject to a recent factory recall, will the assessment decrease?
No. Since Virginia State Code requires all Virginia localities to use a January 1 value for tax assessment purposes, January 1 market data concerning resale performance or indication of price decline for your particular model vehicle may not affect values published in the January 1 Edition of N.A.D.A. (National Automobile Dealers Association) Official Used Car Guides for the current calendar year. The vehicle’s value on January 1 of the following year may reflect a decrease from the prior year depending on market reaction to the recall and associated negative publicity throughout the remainder of the current year.
