Whom do I call to learn about Medicaid nursing home admission?

Contact the Loudoun County Department of Family Services (DFS) at 703-777-0353 and ask to speak with a senior benefits specialist. Let the benefits specialist know you are interested in nursing home admission so that a Medicaid application can be sent to you. The application is long and requires that you submit proof of resources and proof of income. We advise you to start working on it as soon as possible and to call the senior benefits worker for assistance.

It is extremely important that you submit the Medicaid application and all requested verifications. The process can not move forward until this is done. The Medicaid application must be completed prior to placement, and an assessment will be made to determine if you are financially eligible for Medicaid.

The senior benefits worker will refer you to a Family Services Specialist. The Family Services Specialist will contact you to arrange a visit to your home with a public health nurse.
