New! VICAP Medicare Counseling Program Receives Highest Rating in Virginia!
We are pleased to report that the VICAP Medicare Counseling Program administered by Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging staff received the highest overall score in the Commonwealth of Virginia for the 2014-15 grant year! Factors considered in scoring agencies across the state included the following:
- Total client contacts
- Substantial, direct client contacts
- Disabled client contacts
- Low income LIS contacts
- Medicare Part D enrollment contacts
- Total counselor hours
- Timely reporting
- Program coordinator participation in training, teleconferences, exhibits and special events

VICAP counselors are not licensed to sell insurance. Counselors are trained and certified to assist you with:
- Understanding and comparing benefits
- Filing for benefits based on income and resources
- Knowing your rights
VICAP counselors can help all Medicare beneficiaries, including those with disabilities and younger than 65, explore options that best fit their needs.Working collaboratively with the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP), VICAP counselors will help educate and empower beneficiaries to take an active role in detecting and preventing health care fraud and abuse.
Loudoun County’s local VICAP program can provide FREE, unbiased, confidential and personal assistance. You will speak to a trained counselor who will walk you through the steps to maximize your benefits.
VICAP counselors can help all Medicare beneficiaries compare and understand their prescription insurance options when first enrolling in Medicare, when moving or retiring from work, and during the Annual Enrollment Period every year between October 15 and December 7.
