Youth Advisory Council
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) consists of student representatives from Loudoun County High Schools. Students are accepted into the program each summer and meet throughout the academic year to plan youth events for their peers, develop leadership skills and get involved with community service events throughout the county.

Applications for the 2017-2018 school year are open on a limited basis. Please email before applying to ensure that your school has not reached capacity for representation in YAC. 

Applications consist of a student/ applicant form and a teacher/community leader character reference. Both can be completed through the link below. 

LoCo ImprovFest
LoCo ImprovFest is Loudoun's only Teen Improv Comedy & Theatre Festival featuring high school aged performers from Loudoun and the Washington metropolitan area. The festival is consists of daytime improvisational theatre workshops with professional actors and an a series of evening public performances featuring individual school acts and a mixed showcase of performers. Performances are held annually at Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, VA. 

Public performances on April 7 include an early show from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. featuring Briar Woods High School’s Those Guys, Loudoun Valley High School’s Comedy Cult, Dominion High School’s Blank Slate and McLean Community Center’s Unruly Theatre Project. The late show, from 8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., features Broad Run High School’s BRHS Improv, Loudoun County High School’s Improvasaurus and Potomac Falls High School’s SOFA.

Battle of the Bands

Loudoun's annual Battle of the Bands is designed to provide middle school and high school students a safe place to spend a Friday night, while giving local youth bands the opportunity to perform in front of their peers and compete for a chance to win the opportunity to play at Leesburg's own Tally Ho. Winners of the first three battles advance to the finals at the Tally Ho. We have over $900 in cash prizes for our Final Battle winners (1st, 2nd, and fan favorite.) Previous prizes include half a day of studio time, private lessons with professional songwriters, and more!

  • Battle #2: Friday, February 9, 2018 at Atlantis 
  • Battle #3: Friday, March 9, 2018 at Atlantis 
  • Final Battle: Friday, April 13, 2018 at Tally Ho

Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition 
Step Up Loudoun Youth Competition is a youth-focused event that identifies youth and community priorities, and helps create enthusiasm and momentum towards making Loudoun County "The Best Place to Grow Up".  This event provides opportunities for examining the priorities, influencing the strategies adopted for addressing the priorities, and for participating in the development of action plans.  Step Up encourages active engagement in youth-identified programs and services, and brings the diverse components of the community together, to include public and private schools, government, non-profit, faith-based, community, and business organizations, as well as the youth of Loudoun County.
