Parks, Recreation & Open Space Board (PROS)
Members are appointed by the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to represent their respective districts. The board acts in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors in recommending policies and procedures, and provides a forum for citizens’ issues related to parks, recreation and open space. PROS representatives work with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services to identify opportunities regarding parks, recreation and open space, and make recommendations which will serve to enhance and preserve parks, recreation and open space in Loudoun County.

Commission on Aging (COA)
Representatives are appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The commission advises Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging staff and the Board of Supervisors on matters of concern to older residents.
Meetings are held at 10 am on the second Thursday of the month at the Loudoun County Area Agency on Aging, 20145 Ashbrook Place, Suite 170, in Ashburn, VA 20147. The public is invited. Call 703-777-0257 for more information. COA minutes are online. You can now view a list of meeting agendas.
Advisory Commission on Youth
The Advisory Commission on Youth (ACOY) is composed of representatives from each voting district appointed by the Board of Supervisors, along with representatives from community agencies and student liaisons from each public high school. Students from private high schools are also invited to participate. The role of commission members is to advise the Board of Supervisors and PRCS staff on youth issues and to serve as a forum for community concerns. ACOY also works in conjunction with the Loudoun Youth Initiative (LYI) to foster programs and services necessary for the wholesome development of youth in Loudoun County.

Local Advisory Boards
In addition to appointed boards,our centers, parks, and specialty programs rely on volunteers to serve on local advisory boards. Most boards meet monthly and assist in the development, planning, and implementation of programs and activities.
