The foundations of the Loudoun County Geographic Information System (GIS) data are the annual spring aerial photography
and the county’s base map
. The latter, which is maintained from the photography, includes topography, building footprints, water features, pavement, and other layers.
Hard copy maps and spatial data are available for sale at the Office of Mapping and Geographic Information’s public information counter. Maps can also be downloaded directly from the office’s map gallery
Any map found on the gallery can also be obtained as a printed, large size map by sending an email to
or calling public information counter at 703-771-5778. Please have the map number of the map you want to order. The number is found on the map and consists of the year the map was made followed by a three digit number.
Metadata is data about data on the GIS. Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) compliant metadata can be found at https://logis.loudoun.gov/metadata/
