Flood Plain Overlay and Steep Slopes ZOAM
The proposed Flood Plain Overlay and Steep Slopes Zoning Ordinance Amendment (ZOAM-2016-0007) proposes amendments to 1) the Floodplain Overlay District (FOD) within the Revised 1993 Loudoun County Zoning Ordinance
to address comments from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to add certain stormwater management Best Management Practices (BMPs) as permitted uses in the FOD (Major Floodplain), and to clarify regulations.
The proposed amendment to the Land Development and Subdivision Ordinance (DOAM-2016-0002) proposes amendments to the Loudoun County Facilities Standards Manual
(FSM) to implement FOD amendments adopted by the Board on December 2, 2015 with ZOAM-2015-0003 and amendments to the FOD currently proposed by ZOAM-2016-0007 and to amend certain bonding requirements.

At the June 7, 2016 Business Meeting, the Board of Supervisors (“Board”) unanimously adopted a Resolution of Intent to Amend directing staff to process the amendments proposed by ZOAM-2016-0007 and DOAM-2016-0002.
On December 2, 2015, the Board of Supervisors approved zoning ordinance amendments to the Floodplain Overlay District and Steep Slopes Standards.

On September 17, 2014, the Board of Supervisors adopted a Resolution of Intent to Amend the Revised 1993 Loudoun County Zoning Ordinance to amend Sections 4-1500 (Floodplain Overlay District), 5-1508 (Steep Slopes Standards) and Article 8 – Definitions.
The purpose of initiating the amendments is to update and clarify provisions within the Floodplain Overlay District, Steep Slopes Standards and the corresponding Definitions (Article 8).
