Farmwell Road Widening Project

This project provides for the design, right-of-way acquisition and widening of Farmwell Road from Smith Switch to Ashburn Road.
The project will widen the existing road to a six-lane, major collector. Completion of the design phase is expected to occur in the winter of 2018.
Board of Supervisors Action
At its June 6, 2017, business meeting, the Board of Supervisors endorsed the intersection configuration called Alternative 1A that addresses safety concerns associated with left hand turns from Estate Place to Farmwell Road.
The Board directed staff to integrate Alternative 1A, as described in the item below, into the design and construction of the Farmwell Road widening project or to be completed as a stand-alone project as directed by the Board. The item prepared for the Board meeting is online:
